Social Contribution Activeties

Under its corporate philosophy of "Growing Together," Gulliver, as a trustworthy corporate citizen, is aiming to develop harmoniously with communities in Japan and with international society to fulfill its responsibilities to society, which is one of its key stakeholder groups. As part of its initiatives that contribute to society, Gulliver has, thus far, supported activities promoting child safety and encouraging young people to have a spirit of challenge. Starting in December 2007, Gulliver has begun to expand these activities by providing support for the children of the world. Moreover, as a company working within the automobile industry, we feel it is our duty to contribute to reducing emissions of greenhouse gases in any way we can and have, therefore, started to undertake "greening" initiatives.

Every day, about 4,000 children under 5 years of age around the world die of diseases that could be prevented with vaccines.* To help save these children, we are contributing funds to buy polio vaccine for one child for each car sold through Gulliver stores. Under this program, between December 2007 and February 2010, Gulliver donated polio vaccines for an accumulated total of about 500,000 children through the Japan Committee, Vaccines for the World's Children (JCV), a certified nonprofit organization.

Working in cooperation with Save the Children Japan, an independent, nonprofit charity organization, Gulliver has continued to offer support for education in Nepal. These activities have included constructing a public primary school building with three classrooms and conducting activities to promote the understanding of the importance of education and training among people in the local community. Activities have also included conducting campaigns targeted at child guardians and others to promote school attendance. As a result of the comprehensive educational assistance, the number of children attending primary school has increased. The children are now enjoying the improved learning environment.
